Joe Walker of Mammoth Lakes

Joe Walker of Mammoth Lakes had been scheduled to appear in Santa Barbara County Court Friday.

The Santa Barbara District Attorney’s office had slated the hearing for setting of a preliminary hearing date in Walker’s case.  He faces charges of illegal contact with a minor for purposes of sex and a charge of lewd acts with a minor.

Walker and the late Dr. Andrew Bourne, both of Mammoth Lakes, had been arrested in January.  Bourne had faced charges of illegal contact with a minor for purposes of sex.  He took his own life in weeks after the arrest.  The matter of some of his property was also scheduled for Friday’s hearing.

Santa Barbara Deputy DA Mary Barron had told Sierra Wave that some of Bourne’s property remained in the possession of the DA’s office so police could review the property for evidentiary value.  It is believed that this property includes a computer and cell phone.

The DA had alleged that Walker and Bourne had sent a then 14 year-old Santa Barbara girl some 1,000 emails and that she had made over 100 trips to Mammoth Lakes.

Walker remains out of custody on $750,000 bail.

Oh, and thanks again Rusty for throwing a party for Bourne, do you still feel good about yourself while celebrating the life of a perv and firing good hard working people at the same time?

Jose- To call that event a party is plan wrong. I’ve blasted Rusty for the lay offs. But Rusty does not deserve to be belittled for showing a little compassion to Dr. Bournes family. You take Joe Walker out of this picture and none of this would have happen.
