New community building opens

On Saturday, December 8 in Lone Pine, “The Building” on the corner located on the northwest corner of Main Street and Holt will be hosting an “Open House” from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the property, former the “Old Schat’s Bakkery” building which has been under non-stop construction for many, many years. Local resident and community supporter Dave Haas bought the property several months ago and was committed to bring it to completion for use by the community.

“The Building” is already slated for use as the future local office for the new County 5th District Supervisor Matt Kingsley, an information center for the Chamber of Commerce, and an office site for Healthy Communities for Southern Inyo County. The new building will be used for community events, business meetings, wedding receptions, conferences, small conventions, dances, and a host of other activities, including use as a place for youth to gather with table games such as pool, air hockey, foosball, and other games. Future plans also include a food establishment with an outdoor seating area.

Refreshments will be served and the residents of Inyo County are invited to come see this new addition to Lone Pine.  Submitted by Charles James
