- Press release from the Town of Mammoth Lakes:
The Town of Mammoth Lakes has once again scheduled the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular at Crowley Lake on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Funding for this year’s show is derived from the fiscal year 2012/13 Town budget. Town Council will be discussing funding for the 2014 Fourth of July festivities as part of the fiscal year 2013/14 Town budget adoption process.
This year’s fireworks show promises to be a bright and striking display of color in the Eastern Sierra night sky. High Definition Fireworks (HD) are set to go off at approximately 9:15 p.m., weather permitting, and are scheduled to last for 20 minutes.
Another first for the fireworks industry was created by Pyro Spectaculars by Souza: HD Fireworks. “Using some of the same shells and effects found in our traditional shows, these productions are designed with the wide-screen camera in mind — perfect for broadcast situations. We paint the sky both vertically and horizontally.”
Since incorporating in 1984, the Town of Mammoth Lakes has been celebrating Independence Day with a spectacular fireworks show. The Town contracts Pyro Spectaculars by Souza to light up the sky above Crowley Lake. Souza is well known for doing some of the largest and most spectacular fireworks displays in the world. Most recently Souza produced the Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary Fireworks Celebration. Their wall of fame also includes the Macy’s 4th of July Spectacular in New York City, the 2002 & 2004 Olympics, along with the nightly shows at Disneyland and Disney World.
At the annual Crowley Lake Fourth of July fireworks show, 662 shells will be propelled into the Eastern Sierra sky for a mesmerizing 20 minutes of jaw-dropping amazement. Over 450 shells will be shot-off during the main show, including 100 signature pyrotechnic shells. The Grand Finale includes over 200 designer rockets.
Prior to the spectacular fireworks show, kick back on the Crowley Lake Fish Camp lawn and enjoy live music playing from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. The new Crowley Lake Fish Camp restaurant: Pelican Point Grill will be serving BBQ and Holiday specials including cold beverages from 4:00 p.m.
Admission to the Fourth of July Fireworks Show is once again $25.00 per car, RV, or truck, and $5.00 per individual/bike (walking/riding).
