The last day of Feb 2014, brings in the biggest / strongest storm, for Southern California, in 3 years. For SOCAL 1 – 3 inches of rain will fall in most coastal locations, with 3 – 6 inches in the foothills and coastal mountains. Very windy conditions as well, with gusts to 60 mph Friday. San Francisco’s rainfall is similar with 1 – 4 inches in the coastal mountains. We will also get our share of the wet stuff. Rain in the lower valleys with maybe a snow shower or two along with the possibility of hail. For the mountains, I expect 2 feet or more over the Crest in Mono County when all is said and done. A final note, there is the possibly of thunderstorms as well, severe a times today.

OWENS VALLEY:

Today: Rain. Highs 50 – 55 / Lows 32 – 42. Winds SW 15 – 25 mph.

Saturday / Sunday: 50% chance of rain on Saturday then partly sunny on Sunday. Highs 55 – 58 / Lows 33 – 43. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.

TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES (7,800 – 8,200 Feet):

Today: Snow. Highs 35 / Lows 23. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph G 25.

Saturday / Sunday: Snow likely on Saturday then mostly cloudy on Sunday. Highs 37 / Lows 25. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.

MONO COUNTY:

Today: Snow and rain. Highs 36 – 46 / Lows 17 – 27. Winds SW 10 – 20 mph G 35.

Saturday / Sunday: Snow and rain likely Saturday then mostly cloudy Sunday. Highs 40 – 50 / Lows 18 – 28. Winds SW 10 mph.

RENO:

Today. Rain. Highs 48 / Lows 34. Winds SW 10 mph.
