Cottonwood PlazaIn February, the owners of Cottonwood Plaza in Bishop issued a statement to say that makeover plans had begun.  Since then, there has been no obvious activity although the architect on the project says there will be this week.

Architect Tom Schaniel  of Bishop said that some “limited infrastructure permits have been pulled.”  He said that a permit was taken out to improve the fire suppression system.  He said work is expected to begin on that in a matter of days.

The architect added that the project is moving full speed ahead on other permits – building permits, he said, to bring other things up to code.  Plus, they will work on fixing the aesthetics of the center.  Later will come permits regarding parking and future improvements.

In February, the Eslamiyeh family reported the death of the primary owner, Ray Eslamiyeh.  At that time, the owners assured that the process of upgrading the property infrastructure and the improvement of its appearance would go forward.

The plaza has stood vacant behind chain link fence for more than two years following a heated dispute among owners which then forced tenants out.  In February, the owners asked those interested in locating in the center to contact them via email at [email protected].
