In March, Mammoth Police cleared several burglary cases off the books with the arrest of 22-year-old Daniel Stewart Rome. Rome was alleged to have stolen property from guests staying at Juniper Springs. He has now been sentenced to county jail.

Sgt. Karen Smart says that Rome worked as a bellhop at the Juniper Springs Lodge at the time of his arrest on Friday March 14. Mammoth Mountain Security started the investigation into a string of thefts at the Lodge using electronic data stored in all of the door locks on the guest rooms, according to Sgt. Smart. She explained that Mammoth Mountain Security brought the information to the police, alleging that the rooms were opened by an employee key issued to Rome.

Working with security at the lodge, Officers report that Rome was found in possession of a stolen laptop and iPod.

At the time, Police said that Rome was considered to be the suspect in at least eight other burglary cases.

Deputy District Attorney Todd Graham reports that the court has sentenced to 120 days in jail for two counts of burglary.
