Jury selection in the trial of Raymond Bencoma went into its third day today. As of this morning, Inyo County District Attorney Tom Hardy had no good estimate on when the trial will start.
Bencoma faces multiple felony charges including assault on an office from an incident in late August.
Monday’s jury selection was delayed when Bencoma changed his plea from not guilty by reason of insanity to simply not guilty.
….maybe his lawyer can sue if his client is found guilty…and maybe one of the many things wrong with our court system nowdays….but do you REALLY think he would win a judgement on that ???…a good chance the lawyer taking that on would get slapped with a lot of court… Read more »
…trouble….can’t be sueing the County if his client is found guilty and sitting in prison…..
Yes he can sue. Happens all the time in L..A.
I probally deserve getting beat up here for stating my personnel opinions that the law informcement was out of line here. Personally I think the guy should go to jail if he had a gun in his hands that night. But if you don’t think this guy’s attorney is going… Read more »
Enough with the convicted felon crap! What makes you all think “He got away with” anything. He has paid his debts to society for the crimes he has committed in the past. Period. He was not on parole. No female ever flagged down or called to report domestic violence! Are… Read more »
mouthpiece….ENOUGH of defending this guy,and saying he “paid his debt to society ” for what he’s done in the past…..let’s ask Kristina Bone’s family if they feel that way when he turned tail and ran from that accident 20 + years ago,to avoid penalty, when he quite possibly could’ve saved her… Read more »
Fed up, the following was taken out of The Sheet News dated Sept. 6th, 2016….. In the course of searching for a prowler on the Bishop Paiute Reservation on the morning of Friday, August 26, Inyo County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to a possible domestic violence altercation. According to the… Read more »
So what is considered a credible source? Local news? They only report the information they are given. When local newspapers are given conflicting information from the Sheriff Office, is one more credible than another? Why don’t those of you who are curious, attend court proceedings? They are open to the… Read more »
That’s “The Republic of Berkley ” to you Donald Salac…
Yes Trouble, we here in Bishop still have the right of free speech. Apparently not so in Berkeley anymore.
Fed up, I would have agreed with you, because of what this guy did to that poor girl. But I keep asking myself why the police all turned their recorders off before they shot this guy?Honestly, I think the public has a right to know.
HAHAHA what are you talking about !!!???? Like they are on 24/7 and “they” turned them off to shoot someone? Good job detective!
Trouble….at this point…..after years and years……and years of illegal activity(after the “poor girl” incident 20 + years ago ), later domestic violence charges, assaults,,getting away with crimes and disturbances, and not seeming to care or learn from any of the “slap on the wrist ‘ penalties he got and was getting…….who… Read more »
Trouble.I should have finished that off saying….who cares that the cameras were (allegedly ) turned off ?
I care Inyo, two wrongs don’t make it right. Besides, the this guy may well end up getting off the hook again and be planning to sue the carp out of us tax payers for this.Time will tell. I remember you telling me Trump didn’t have a chance to win… Read more »
trouble…..not THIS time,he ain’t gonna walk and sue the County….and as far as trump winning,we all have seen it coming for a while now….and the dumbing down of America is now complete when he was elected…doing a great job, getting a lot done that he said he would, isn’t he ???….the people… Read more »
The recorders were not off when he was shot.
Sasshlee,
Undersheriff Hollowell was quoted in The Sheet saying cameras were off. Do you know different?
I’m skeptical about the info that the cops had their cameras turned off . I have only heard that piece of “info” from “mouthpiece” or others like her/him. I’ve never seen that info from a credible source only the rumor mill. If it’s true heck yes I’m curious why because… Read more »
Fed up, I am not saying the police went their to shoot this guy. All I’m saying is I don’t believe they are being honest about turning off all their recorders. I read their comments and the DA comments in one of the many local papers. They said they turned… Read more »
Sorry, trouble not Tinner.
Tinner…. Before you trash talk your local law enforcement, how about you learn to spell those “Big” words you’re throwing out there!!!!
Inept, instead of talking trash about my spell checking abilities, why don’t you tell me why you think I’m wrong?
Trouble, you never have anything positive to say. The government is corrupt, the guys innocent, its a conspiracy….blah blah blah. It must be frustrating for you to be 50, single and living in your parents basement.
You got that … backwards Brian. I work sixty hours a week and try not to ask any thing of any one. But you are almost correct on my opinion of our local justice system over all. Sorry you think so badly of me.
@Trouble, You frequently make unsubstantiated claims and accusations within your comments. Instead of asking others to prove you wrong, how about backing up your claims with some objective facts for a change?
I can see why you would say that Charles. But, I think if you would read the article about this shooting investigation printed in The Sheet, you will see that I was not the first to bring this topic up. I also want to say that one of our Sheriffs… Read more »
Yes, questioning things is a good thing in my opinion. But questioning something is not the same as making unsubstantiated claims and accusations. Especially when such comments are often based on very limited information. We all have right and the expectation to be treated fairly by our law enforcement folks… Read more »
It appears Bencoma and his lawyer read the comments here on the sierrawave.net.
This ought to be a good .A convicted felon against a enept local justice system. And yes, I think I have a right to say that.
So he regained his sanity ?? Doubt it . He’s pulling any stunt he can at this point . What a waste of time .
Maybe he can put it off for 4 years and get credit for his jail time shaved off his prison term . Oh, wait….that’s already been done.
More Cheese with that whine, Sir?
