Bill Michael, Director of Mono County Libraries, resigned his position and has made the move to become Director of Monterey City Library and Museums. This change took place as of July 7, 2014.

Bill was employed by Mono County Office of Education as the Library Director since July, 2005. His background includes both library direction, as well as museum curator, as Bill was instrumental in the development and building of the Manzanar Museum and Interpretation Center in Lone Pine. We are very sad to see him go, but wish him the greatest success and happiness in his new position.

We have hired Ana Danielson as the Interim Director of Libraries, with the position beginning on July 16, 2014. The Interim position will go through December, 2014, at which time a permanent decision will be made for the Director position.

Ana most recently held the position as Special Projects Director for the Mono County Office of Education in which she oversaw a regional project with a budget of over $1.5 million. She also has experience in the library system, as she was the Branch Support Librarian of the Mammoth Lakes Library for several years. Ana has a Masters degree in Literature and a great passion for literacy. We wish her well in her new position and feel confident in her abilities to provide excellent leadership during this transition.
