Recently, the City of Bishop held a contest to select an official slogan for our fine community and the winning entry was submitted by the Moore family.
“Small Town With A Big Backyard”
is our official new slogan and the Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that we are now offering t-shirts for sale that feature a great design created by Shannon Romero at Mountain Apparel.
Long sleeve t’s are $20 and the short sleeve version is just $15.
The Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is located at 690 N. Main Street. Open Monday-Friday 10-5, Saturday 10-4.
Computer Skills Classes
If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to gain improved computer skills, you are in luck!
Cerro Coso Community College is offering a series of one-unit classes in Computer Keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel. These are the most frequently requested classes for people already working or seeking employment in an office environment.
Because each class is only one unit, the workload is light and manageable for a working person. Spring semester begins January 14th and space is still available in the classes. Each course is set to complete in only half a semester(eight weeks) and the current fee for a one-unit class at Cerro Coso is only $46.
All the computer classes meet at the Owens Valley Career Development Center – 2574 Diaz Lane in Bishop.
Special thanks to Dawn and Tom Briggs for hosting the first after hours Chamber Mixer of 2013 earlier this week. And, thanks to all Chamber Members, friends and guests that came to the event. Approximately 40 people enjoyed great appetizers prepared by Michelle Denault. Raffle prizes were gift certificates for Vitality services including: Massage, Acupuncture, Ionic Foot Cleanse, Colonic and Sauna. Congratulations to the lucky winners!
Our next after hours mixer is scheduled for February 13th at the Mule Days Office – hope to see you there!
