Bishop City Council Election Process Begins

The long presidential election has finally wrapped up, but another important local election is right around the corner. Two people have pulled papers needed to run for the Bishop City Council.

Residents of the City of Bishop will elect three city council members in March. The council seats currently held by Susan Cullen, Frank Crom, and Martin Smiley, Connolly are all up for election this year.

People who are interested in being a candidate for city council can now pick up papers to run at the city offices on West Line Street.

The filing period opened on Monday. Already city officials report that two people have asked for the paperwork. Pulling papers doesnt necessarily mean that a person is running, but it is considered to be a strong indication that a citizen plans to be a candidate. So far current councilwoman Susan Cullen has pulled papers. David Stottlemyre has also picked up the paperwork.

The last day to turn in papers to run for Bishop City Council is December 5th unless one of the incumbents decides not to run again. In that case, the deadline is extended to December 10th.
