The person who heads up the local police department means a lot to citizens. They look to the Chief for leadership in the community and effectiveness in law enforcement. For Bishop, a change has come. Chief Joe Pecsi will retire and a new Chief will take over.

As we reported earlier this week, the Bishop City Council has interviewed candidates for police chief and has narrowed the field. City Administrator Rick Pucci said that officials have narrowed the field down to three finalists. Pucci said they will have to do background checks, medical and psychological checks.

The Administrator said, "If all goes right, we will get formal background checks in and sest a tentative schedule for an appointment on December 10th."

Pucci called the recruitment process for the chief's position "one fo the best recruitments" the city has conducted.

The interview panel has included the entire Bishops City Council and Administrator Pucci.
