On Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 6:48 A.M., Mr. Moises Cornejo, age 43, of Bridgeport, California was traveling northbound US Highway 395, north of State Route 108 (Sonora Junction), when a deer leaped into his path colliding into his motorcycle. The deer collision caused Mr. Cornejo to lose control of his orange 2009, Kawasaki, Vulcan 900, which overturn.
Mr. Cornejo was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained injuries. A good samaritan stopped, checked on Mr. Cornejo and drove to an area with cellular telephone reception and called 9-1-1. Personnel from Mono County Sheriff’s Department, Antelope Valley Fire Department, Mono County EMS responded to the scene and provided medical aid. An Officer from the California Highway Patrol, Bridgeport Area Walker/Coleville Resident Post also responded and conducted an investigation of the traffic collision.
Thank you for getting this story right, unlike the Mammoth Times who reported Moises Cornejo died at SR 108 (June Lake Junction) after flipping a Can-Am quad and losing his helmet.
