Bishop City Administrator/ Community Services Director Keith Caldwell

When former Bishop City Administrator Jim Southworth resigned last August, Community Services Director Keith Caldwell became Interim Administrator along with his community services work.  Most expected that the City Council would eventually make him the Administrator.  That’s what they did Monday.  The City will pay Caldwell $135,000 per year to do both jobs.  Southworth made $135,000 as administrator. Here is the full press release:

Monday evening, the Bishop City Council voted unanimously to appoint Interim City Administrator Keith Caldwell as City Administrator. “The decision to take ‘interim’ out of Keith’s title was an easy one,” said Mayor Laura Smith. “The City Council is unanimously happy to move Keith into the City Administrator position. The entire Council feels very confident in his ability to do a great job for the City.”

Keith Caldwell came to the City of Bishop on June 11, 2007, as Community Services Director. He served in that position until August 22, 2011, when he was appointed Interim City Administrator/Community Services Director. Before he came to Bishop, Keith served as Athletic Division Administrator in Athens Clark County, Georgia.

The City Council approved a new five year City Administrator/City Clerk Employment Agreement. Under that Agreement, Keith will be paid a salary of $135,000 per year without any built‐in increases which results in a net savings to the City. Keith will continue to perform the functions of Community Services Director.

In response to his appointment, Keith said: “I appreciate the opportunity to serve as City Administrator for the citizens of Bishop. It is a privilege and honor to work alongside a very dedicated and committed staff as we strive to become a model city for the future.”
