Presentation spotlights Railroads of Death Valley

           rr The annual meeting of the Friends of the Eastern California Museum will feature a book signing, a potluck and a presentation about the numerous railroads that rumbled through Death Valley. The event, which is open to the public, will take place in Independence on Saturday, March 10.

Author and historian Robert P. Palazzo is the guest speaker. He will be at a reception and book signing at the Eastern California Museum (155 N. Grant St., Independence) starting at 4 p.m. Besides his most recent book, “Railroads of Death Valley,” Palazzo has also authored “Images of America: Death Valley,” and the booklet, “Darwin, California.”

The group then moves to the Owens Valley School Multi-Purpose Room (202 S. Clay St., Independence) for a potluck, starting at 5:30 p.m., a brief introduction of the 2012 officers of the Friends of the Eastern California Museum, and Palazzo’s presentation, “Railroad of Death Valley,” from his book of the same name.
