pasOn Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at approximately 3:30 PM, the California Highway Patrol Bishop Communications Center received a call of an erratic driver traveling on northbound US-395, near Tom’s Place.  An officer assigned to the Mammoth Lakes Resident post located the vehicle on School Road, east of US-395.  The officer contacted the driver (Ms. Randia Rayle, age 25) and noted objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication.  The officer conducted a driving under the influence (DUI) investigation.  Ms. Rayle performed field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample.  The preliminary alcohol screening device indicated Ms. Rayle’s blood alcohol content was approximately 0.26%, more than three times the legal limit.  Ms. Rayle was arrested for DUI and subsequently booked into the Mono County Jail in Bridgeport, California.  Ms. Rayle was issued a driver license suspension and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

Lieutenant R. D. Cohan, commander of the California Highway Patrol Bridgeport Area, said, “This late afternoon arrest demonstrates DUI is a 24 hour a day issue.  The citizen who called in to report this driver probably saved a life.  Please, if you see a drunk driver call 911.”
