Town Clean-Up Day: Saturday, May 19
New this year, the Town, in partnership with Mammoth Disposal and Sierra Conservation Project, will set-up eight (8) Town Clean Up Day Stations conveniently located throughout Town. Each station will accept trash/recycling material and green waste. No food waste or construction material please.
View the detailed map identifying the eight stations, open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Mammoth Creek Park will be the hub for Town Clean-Up Day activities where you can get maps and directions to the eight stations located at: Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station, Fire Station 1 & 2, Canyon & Eagle Lodge, Mammoth Lakes Community Center, and 2 locations in Sierra Valley sites.
The Town and Mammoth Disposal will NOT be distributing or collecting orange trash bags this year. Please purchase your yard-waste bags from local businesses, including the Do-It Center or ACE Hardware.
“Town Clean-Up Day is an immense undertaking that would not be possible without the generous support of our many partners, along with the willingness of the community to pitch in and clean-up their neighborhood,” commented Stuart Brown, Recreation Manager for the Town of Mammoth Lakes.
Please do not leave filled bags on the side of the road. These items will not be collected by Town staff or Mammoth Disposal. Please deliver these items to the eight (8) Town Clean-Up Day Stations conveniently located throughout Town, or directly to the Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station at 59 Commerce Drive.
The USFS and MLFD will recycle green waste, such as: pine cones, needles, and tree limbs less than 12” in diameter. FREE of charge on Saturday, May 19, 2012 between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station.
Town Clean-Up Day is proudly supported by the Town of Mammoth Lakes, County of Mono, Mammoth Disposal, Sierra Conservation Project, United States Forest Service, Mammoth Lakes Fire District, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, and the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce.

Not to minimize the tremendous good work of the volunteers… Stewart (what exactly do I do for all that newsletter money and soon to not have a job) Brown comments on the ” immense undertaking” of partners and supporters. My, my how those right-wingers like to pontificate! “Big Al” (resident neocon guru) must not understand: a. it is highly unlikely locals trash their own backyards. b. most of the trash has accumulated around the ski areas parking lots, etc. c. the majority of skiiers are from the Los Angeles… Read more »
BIG Al : (interesting moniker, Big) You might feel “BIG”- er once you grasp the reflection concept. You know, Big, a Limbaugh-sounding slam is just a mirror-image thing. I thought EVEVERYBODY knew that. Now turn off Limbaugh, stop watching Fox and throw away all your Ann Coulter and Glenn Beck… Read more »
Sorry you are offended Big Al. But if you are suggesting that our fine friends from the south have nothing but respect for those who live here year round and would never think of trashing the place – give me your address and I’ll sen you directions that will help… Read more »
No I am not offended one bit wild animal, I am just pointing out the narrow mindedness of comments such as your previous post and the present post. You just further proved my point. I will repeat it for you .. maybe you can understand what I said the first… Read more »
Scapegoating….really?…are you one of the 5 Rachel Maddow viewers? That sounds just like something she would spew out. Why turn something as positive as the cleanup into political tripe? knock it off already.
You just took the words right out of my foaming mouth.
Prescription to stop the foaming at the mouth:
1. Turn off Limbaugh
2. Turn off Fox
3 Throw away all your “I hate liberals” books by the lovely Ann Coulter.
You should start to feel normal almost immediately.
define “normal”
I’m waiting for some foam-at-the-mouth Right-winger to lay the trash blame on people from Mexico.
Aren’t they the cause of all social problems?
Having done my civic duty and picked up trash yesterday in my neighborhood, I noticed the bulk of the trash was generated around the parking lot of Eagle Lodge. This, I’m afraid supports the theory that Wild Animals is talking about. I have sadly witnessed people (with down south city… Read more »
You’re kidding, right, Rob? Most of the trash in our beautiful mountain town is always found around the nearest chairlift. The cigarette butts, beer cans, Kleenex snot rags, and plastic bags are not because the bear and coyote are the culprits. It’s another sort of animal – The wild pigs… Read more »
Yeah right wild animal .. call … all of the visitors who come here wild pigs. That just shows how you think. Not everyone who goes to Mammoth or Bishop or Lone Pine or any where else is a wild pig. Come on, get real …. Like not everyone in… Read more »
There is almost zero real pollution up here caused by visitors any more. It’s DWP that’s the real culprit lurking up here. Don’t be fooled.
Rob…I think what “send them the bill” is kinda saying is,no matter the problem in Mammoth Lakes,it’s always someone from out of town that has caused it…..”visitors”…never someone living there.
Since it’s the winter visitors from the south who are most responsible for the indiscriminate and wanton trashing of our town – why not compute how much time it takes for the good citizens of Mammoth to pick up after the pigs and send a minimum wage bill to L.A.?… Read more »
I’m not buying the winter vistors trash the town, explain? And what about everyone who lives in town that can’t figure out how to close a bear proof dumpster? How’d you figure out it was winter tourist from down South who brought that couch to Mammoth and dumped it out… Read more »
Ouch! Never thought my comment regarding no post-cleanup party at the park this year would morph into something totally different.
Must be an election year.

Here’s the FAQ about unemployment insurance that all those free loaders collect. By the way, that free loader must have earned over $11,000 in a QUARTER to qualify for maximum benefits. Who knew free loaders could get such a good paying job? http://www.edd.ca.gov/unemployment/faq_-_eligibility.htm#HowareUIbenefitscalculated In particular, these three clauses are interesting:… Read more »

Too bad there isn’t a way to receive a ticket with the garbage bag or something.
The get together at the park was one of the nicer community gatherings of Mammoth Lakes.
after they clean up the town… need to clean up the town council and town offices.

Okay Dingo. Have it your way.
What a group of people.
What a group of people.
Another nice community gathering down the drain.
Just the facts,
If you’re not bitching or complaining, you’re asleep !!!!
I think I’ll take some quality time and focus on just what the F______ “Problem Solved”‘s is getting at with such a profound and thought-provoking comment.
Unfortunately, this format is a cheap therapy session for a lot of people (so they think).
So, fire away, Problem!
Hey Rob….When was the last time you saw a gal like that WILLING to clean rooms in Mammoth ?….The mentality nowdays…for many….don’t pay $ 17.00 an hour ?…forget it !!!..They ain’t working for less than that !! ..and it’s a big reason for the high-unemployment % everyone wants to blame… Read more »
This idea that you can collect unemployment for 2 years without having worked is a fabrication from the right wing noise machine. Unemployment compensation is gauged on how much you have worked in the past and how much you earned. And what you get as unemployment compensation is barely enough… Read more »

The last time I saw a gal like that cleaning hotel rooms was 1982 at the Bishop Inn.
She works at Tom’s Place now, still real cute too. 😉
Rob- that video really makes a person think. Thanks!
What?
No picnic afterwards?
Don’t tell me the free-loaders last year ruined it for everyone.
What a world.
What a world.
Always the few who ruin it for the rest. But I think that 43 million $$$ dept may have something to do with it. Its not the world, its the people who live in the world.
WHAT???…Free-loaders in Mammoth Lakes,California ?…..Say it ain’t so !!!
Yes Wayne, and most of them only speak Spanish.
Not defending illegals Uff, just saying that from personal experience, the only Spanish speakers I know in Mammoth work their tails off. And it isn’t as though I’m unaware of free-loaders.
Agreed! I don’t know where the idea of “free loading” comes from. Will someone please tell me how I can get stuff for free? I’m tired of paying for everything and I’ve looked for free stuff — can’t find any.

you’re way off base with that comment, Wayne. I’m sure there are spanish speaking freeloaders, but in no way are they a majority. Check out Bishop, tell me who the major freeloaders are there….I’ll give you a hint…they ain’t brown.
sierragirl…You got me mixed up with another commenter..Uff-da is the one that’s way off base…and racist, with his comment…not me.
Not in the town of Lone Pine !!!….The ones that speak Spanish….THEY are,in most cases, the ones that do the work the others choose not to do.The free-loaders are sitting around,or riding their bicycles waiting on a $17.00 per hour job to go to….And if one happens to come along for… Read more »
