Jerry Kindall, legendary college baseball coach and former Major League player, will speak in Bishop on Sunday, July 13 at First Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m.

Kindall was the head baseball coach at the University of Arizona for 24 years before retiring in 1996. His teams won NCAA National Championships in 1976, 1980 and 1986. He was voted College Baseball “Coach of the Year” those same years.

He is the winningest coach in the history of the University of Arizona, with 861 victories. Kindall is also a noted author, having written the popular Sports Illustrated Baseball instructional book, as well as editing the Science of Baseball and co-editing The Baseball Coaching Bible.

Coach Kindall played eight years as an infielder in the Major Leagues with the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins. After retiring from pro ball, he was both assistant basketball and baseball coach at the University of Minnesota (his alma mater) before taking the head coaching position at the University of Arizona in 1972.

He has also coached USA Baseball teams in the Pan American games, served as a Major League Baseball Envoy in Sweden and France, and has broadcast college baseball games for numerous television networks including Fox Sports Net and ESPN.

First Presbyterian Church is located at 585 N. Main Street in Bishop across from McDonalds.
