(PRESS RELEASE FROM LADWP)

ladwpLADWP to Telecast Board of Water & Power Commissioners’ Meeting Live in the Owens Valley

For the first time ever, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will offer in the Owens Valley live interactive telecasts of its Board of Commissioners meetings. Beginning with the Board meeting on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, those interested can participate from the LADWP Bishop Administrative Office. Plans are in the works to telecast future meetings.

“We are very pleased to offer our neighbors to the north the opportunity to see and participate live in Board of Water and Power Commissioner’s meetings,” said LADWP General Manager Ron Nichols. “Because Los Angeles and the Eastern Sierra are so closely tied, earlier this year the Board requested that their meetings be telecast in the Owens Valley to reach out and enhance communication with local residents and interested stakeholders.”

Bishop Administrative Office attendees will be able to view and hear in real time the Board of Water and Power Commissioners meeting and have an opportunity to address the Board live by submitting a speaker card just as they would if they attended a Board meeting in person in Los Angeles. The Commissioners and attendees in the LADWP Board Room will be able to view and hear the Owens Valley speakers. Channel 35 in Los Angeles, which broadcasts the meeting in the city, has no direct feed from the Bishop Administrative Office to their cameras. Instead, the station will capture the projected image of Owens Valley speakers and broadcast it on their system.

The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. on August 27 in the LADWP Bishop Administrative Office located at 300 Mandich Street, Bishop, CA. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Limited parking is available adjacent to the Bishop Administrative Office building, and Owens Valley participants should use the entrance on the east side of the building.

The live telecast room has a capacity of 30 with seating on a first-come first-served basis. The building is ADA compliant and has handicap and wheelchair access. Copies of the Board agenda will be available on site on the meeting day. The agenda will be available on the LADWP website 72 hours before the meeting and attendees download and print the agenda atwww.LADWP.com/Board. If the meeting is cancelled or rescheduled, a notice will be posted in the Bishop Administrative Office and online at www.LADWP.com/Board.
