Assemblywoman Connie Conway

The budget frenzy has calmed down in Sacramento, but money problems continue.  You can have your say on state issues and bureaucracy when Inyo County Assemblywoman Connie Conway sends staff members to Bishop Thursday, October 27th, to meet with the public at Bishop City Hall.

Some of the latest issues in Sacramento include hearings on a state program that would grant tax breaks to help “green” companies in California buy equipment and add employees.

Three Bay Area legislators are speaking out against the federal government’s crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries.  These lawmakers want an immediate end to the crackdown.

Another issue – A proposed initiative that would limit state aid to illegal immigrants went to State Attorney General Kamala Harris, who is charged with preparation of ballot language for initiatives.  Three Republican activists now push this idea.  Details of the proposed initiative include fingerprinting for Medi-Cal pregnancy services and prohibitions against undocumented immigrants receiving public financial aid.

Just some ideas for questions of Assemblywoman Conway’s staff.  Her Chief of Staff, Dillon Gibbons will go to Bishop Thursday, October 27th.  He will answer questions about state legislation and help constituents with state agencies.  Gibbons will talk to people from 11am to 1pm in Bishop City Hall’s executive conference room.
