Court cases in Mono and Inyo continue on charges of vehicle theft, assault, arson and DUI.

First, Mono. Earlier this month, Mammoth Police arrested a Victorville man for attempted murder. After reviewing reports

and evidence, the District Attorney’s office filed a charge of assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury. In a recent preliminary hearing, the judge held 24-year-old Jonathan Anderson to answer on that charge. The judge also found probably cause for a great bodily injury enhancement. Anderson is scheduled for arraignment on that information November 2nd.

Mammoth Police had reported that Anderson tried to choke his girlfriend three times at a home on Mono St. They had finally discovered Anderson under the victim’s bed the next morning.

In another Mammoth area case Giselle Jiron, 37 of Bishop, was arrested for vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen credit cards and driving under the influence. Mammoth Police said they responded to a report of two intoxicated women trying to drive a vehicle. Ms. Jiron is scheduled for a pre-hearing conference November 2nd.

John Thomas Christiana

In Inyo County, John Thomas Christiana is the man accused of arson in the fire that destroyed the Bristlecone Visitors Center. Christiana’s preliminary hearing is set for November 4th. At last word, he was representing himself.

Mark Douglas Heffron of Bishop was schedule for a court appearance in Inyo Tuesday, October 26. He does face a charge of driving under the influence with injury.

Bishop Police placed Heffron under arrest October 18. They alleged that he plowed his pickup truck into the back of another truck at the stoplight at Yaney and Main streets in Bishop.

The truck Heffron hit then plowed into the back of a travel trailer. A person in the truck pulling the trailer was taken to Northern Inyo Hospital with reported moderate injuries.
