Press release

Mammoth Lakes, CA – With the start of the school year, the Mammoth Lakes Police Department will be posting crossing guards at Meridian Boulevard at Sierra Park Road effective Monday, September 12, 2016, from 7:15–8:15 AM, 12:00–12:30 PM, and 2:20–3:20 PM. They will assist with the safe crossing of students across Meridian Boulevard and help alleviate traffic issues around the schools.

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department will be enforcing applicable traffic laws. When a crossing guard displays a stop sign, the driver of any vehicle approaching the school crossing shall stop before reaching the crossing and remain stopped until all persons have cleared the roadway. Pedestrians and students are required by law to follow the official direction of the crossing guards.

With strong partnerships between the Town, the Mammoth Unified School District, Mono County School District and parents, we can continue to foster a safe environment for our students throughout the school year.
