TUESDAY 31-JAN-2012

Well, here we are in the last day of January 2012. Many of you have ask me, when will this drought end. The answer is not soon. The forecast models, as of this morning, are saying well below normal precipitation in California and Nevada through the 8th/9th of February. Thats the second week in February! What we have in effect, is a strong blocking ridge of high pressure (a Rex Block) dominating the West Coast, and any storms that hit it are being sheered apart or pushed to the north. Now can these forecast models be incorrect, of course. But if you look at the overall weather pattern so far this winter, those models are looking pretty good. So, dry weather through the weekend with slightly cooler temperatures and some clouds overhead.
