High pressure will begin to expand westward and dominate our weather starting Thursday and through the weekend. As such, the upper flow changes and becomes from the Southeast. This will do a number of things. First, our temps will warm up through the weekend. With the southeasterly flow, monsoonal moisture will be allowed to enter our district, bringing on the chance of shower and thunderstorm activity. Finally, that upper flow may help clear out some of the unhealthy smoke thats plagued the Owens Valley by the weekend. The increase in cloud cover from possible thunderstorms will also help moderate the heat a bit here and there. All of this should last until about next Tuesday, when the flow changes and becomes from the southwest. This will push out any moisture we have had. Now for today, much the same weather as yesterday.

A note on the Lion Fire: it has now grown to 11,400 acres. The smoke has been transported across to Lone Pine, Independence, the Inyo’s and other parts of the Owens Valley. Look for the smoke to worsen today.
