“Giving you the reasons why Eastern Sierra weather happens.”

FRIDAY July 20, 2012

Well we have almost lost 30 minutes of daylight from a month ago, here on July 20th. What does that mean weather wise? Meteorologically speaking, by the end of July, summer will have peaked and temps will slowly drop thru August and September. Having said all this I expect temps to run at normal or slightly above this weekend and into the early part of next week, as high pressure builds in. Additionally, weak instability will give the mountains an on-going slight chance of thunderstorms thru Tuesday.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

Today: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy. Highs 93 / lows 57. Winds SE 10 – 15 mph G 25.

Saturday & Sunday: 20% chance of thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. Highs 97 / lows 61. Winds NW 5 – 10 mph.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

Today: 20% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs 77 / lows 48. Winds SW 5 – 15 mph.

Saturday & Sunday: 20% chance of thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. Highs 79 / lows 51. Winds SE 5 – 15 mph.

FOR MONO COUNTY:

Today: 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 80 – 90 / lows 42 – 52. Winds S 10 – 15 mph.

Saturday & Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 82 – 92 / lows 45 – 55. Winds SW 10 mph.
