THURSDAY 15-DEC-2011

Well the shortwave we talked about yesterday has moved into the PACNW today and split. The northern piece continues its trek eastward and the southern piece has dropped down along the Sierra. So far this year, almost all the systems have played out this scenario. Not much in the way or moisture, but still a slight chance for us today. That system continues to move south down into SOCAL later today into Friday. We will have gusty northeast winds, in some places, as the front passes through into tomorrow. Then, dry and cool through the weekend.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

Today: Partly to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers. Highs in the upper 40s and lows around 24. Winds NW 10 – 15 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny daytime and mostly clear in the evening. Highs around 50 and lows 23. Winds NW 10 – 20 mph.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

Today: Mostly cloudy day and night with a 40% chance of scattered snow. Highs 25 and lows 18. Winds N 5 – 10 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny then mostly clear at night. Highs 28 and lows 18. Winds NE 5 – 10 mph.

FOR MONO COUNTY:

Today: Mostly cloudy with a chance of isolated snow thru the evening. Highs 32 – 42 and lows 9 – 14. Winds N 10 – 20 mph.
Friday: Partly cloudy becoming mostly clear. Highs 31  – 36 and lows 5 – 15. Winds N 10 – 15 mph.
