dodgeOkay.  Scenes from the Eastern Sierra have doubled for lots of spots around the world – the Himalayas, Afghanistan, home of “Tremors” giant worms.  But at least one viewer thought Dodge Durango went too far claiming their car had toured Europe while showing video of a Durango traversing Bishop’s Birchim Lane.  Bishop resident and Sierra Wave TV man, Ron Alexander, told us about it, and he contacted Consumer Reports.  They verified that Alexander was right on. The story appears in the April Consumer Reports in their feature “Ads-Travaganza”.

From Consumer Reports April edition:

“Goofs, glitches, gotchas    SELLING IT Annual auto ads-travaganza
A recent Harris Poll about the public’s perception of 22 industries cited “a huge improvement    in the number of people who think that the automobile industry is doing a good job of serving consumers.” Still, there’s no shortage of car-related goofs, plus strange signs.

As a 2011 Dodge Durango barreled down a rural lane in a TV ad last year, a voiceover said the vehicle had returned after a two-year absence during which ittoured around Europe getting handling and steering lessons on those sporty European roads:’ No, non, and nein. The reader who took the photo above noted that this sporty road was actually Birchim Lane, in Round Valley, Calif.”
