The weather was a bit windy, but the skies were clear for the arrival of Mammoth’s first commercial flight in over a decade. Members of the Town of Mammoth Lakes came out in force to welcome Horizon’s Q400 as it touched down at the Mammoth Yosemite Airport.

The flight leaving LAX was delayed, as the weather was worse in Southern California, but those waiting didn’t seem to mind, including the 20-some passengers waiting for the plane to land so that they could depart.

When the full flight arrived at approximately 4 p.m. a red carpet was rolled out for the passengers and cheers came from the crowd as they walked through the gate. Those on the flight were given commemorative hats with the new Mammoth Mountain Ski Area logo and the date embroidered onto them.

After disembarking from the plane himself, CEO of Mammoth Mountain gave a champagne toast, welcoming air service back to Mammoth. One flight per day will run through April. Book your seat at www.mammothmountain.com
