Thursday night, three young men were arrested after a report of graffiti at the Bishop City Park.

Spray painted tags are roundly disliked in the Eastern Sierra. This time the call came in at about 9:15 Thursday night. A person called the Bishop Police to report that there were suspects spray painting buildings in the Bishop City Park and gave a description of the suspect. Bishop Police responded and arrested three individuals, officials say.

According to police, 23-year-old Joshua Brooks was arrested for felony vandalism. Officers also arrested a 19-year-old male for resisting arrest, and an 18-year-old male for resisting arrest and a probation violation, police say.

When this reporter went to the park to shoot tape of the graffiti, I asked around, but no one had seen the unwanted paint job. There was a reason for this. City Staff doesnt tolerate graffiti and had applied new paint over the offending marks on the bathroom by the ball fields and nearby shed. Park staff that I spoke to explained that they paint over graffiti as soon as they find to let people who spray paint tags on a wall know that its not okay to do so.

With the graffiti gone and covered up by 10:00 in the morning Friday, the Bishop City Park appeared to be in top shape in time for the Independence Day holiday weekend.
