Leo, a sheltie, went missing last Friday in Lone Pine but was found today when a man and his dog noticed Leo hiding in the brush near Whitney Portal Road.
The man had seen banners and posters placed in Lone Pine by Landa Coldiron of lostpetdetection, who was alerted to missing Leo and traveled to the Owens Valley to help with the search.
Coldiron said her bloodhounds, including Glory the Bloodhound, the American Humane Association’s 2015 Search Dog of the Year, got a solid direction of travel but were stopped by fences and private property.
But Leo was found when a man pulled over on Whitney Portal Road with his dog, which started barking after spotting Leo in nearby brush.

The alert, good samaritan had just seen the signs that Leo was missing, Coldiron reports, and he called a friend who then got the information off a sign and a wonderful reunion was had by all.
