After it closed for the season, someone broke into the historic Hayden Cabin in Mammoth Lakes. Historical Society members ask that you keep an eye out for the old cabin.

For Mammoth Museum, it was a good year for visitors. As of closing day, September 27th, close to 5,000 visitors stepped inside the Hayden Cabin to look at the history of Mammoth Lakes. Volunteers make it happen.

Then, on October 22nd, a call came in about a break-in at the Hayden Cabin. Acting President Dinah Craig and Bill Sauser inspected the cabin and outer buildings. They found that all the padlocks had been cut. Nothing was taken, but the break-in disturbed the Southern Mono Historical Society Board.

They ask that if you are walking around the cabin this winter to let Bill or Diane know of any suspicious activity. Keeping an eye on a piece of Mammoth’s history.
