relations. It’s the Police-Hispanic Community Advisory Committee that met recently.

Chief Watson said that Police Officers Ruben Ramos and Art Torres brought up the need to reach out and improve relations with the Hispanic and immigrant community. Mammoth Mayor Skip Harvey sits on that committee along with several Hispanic community leaders.

The group decided to meet monthly for the next few months. They will come up with a co-chair to sit alongside Chief Watson and a mission statement. The committee will coordinate open community meetings in the future.

With Mammoth’s Hispanic population at an estimated 40%, the police and other town leaders see the importance of efforts to communicate and share local issues.
