inyo_courthouseRestitution hearings were scheduled for Friday in a Lone Pine embezzlement case. In April, four former Indian Education Center officials were sentenced to jail time on the allegation that they took over $100,000. Later, court officials said the actual amount taken may add up to more than $250,000.

Former Indian Education Center Director Gary Donnelly, bookkeeper Mary Donnelly, office manager Mary Jefferson and assistant to the director Sara Jefferson had entered pleas of no contest to charges related to the misuse of public funds. The court sentenced all of them to various jail times.

According to the Inyo Court calendar, all four defendants are scheduled to appear for restitution hearings and review. In April, District Attorney Art Maillet had said that the Indian Education Center credit cards were used to buy household furnishings and clothing from stores like Lowe’s, Home Depot, Costco, J.C. Penny’s and many others. The DA also said that the defendants used Education Center credit cards to pay for TV, radio and phone services.
