Bishop Firefighters were called out Tuesday night at about 11:30 for two suspicious brush fires on Winuba Lane. Fire Chief Ray Seguine reports that the volunteers contained both of the small fires to about 600 square feet in size. No one was hurt and the damage was limited to blackened brush and trees.

It does appear that someone lit the fires on purpose. Seguine says that the two fires had a hot start, meaning a lighter or matches kindled the first flames. There were reports of someone running from the scene, but in the dark of night with no moon, descriptions of the suspect were limited.
