The past seven years I have had the privilege of representing Inyo County as your Clerk/Recorder. I have led the effort to modernize the Clerk, Recorder and Elections offices by expanding online access to services and information, secured grant funding to improve accessibility to the Big Pine Town Hall, instituted the student poll worker program, established a Citizenship & Government project through 4-H and founded Leadership Eastern Sierra – a program to foster the next generation of leaders in our community. But there is still more work to be done.

Over the next five years Inyo County will be purchasing and instituting a new voting system and a new land records software program. Both projects will require careful oversight and attention to detail to ensure that no records are lost and that no voters are disenfranchised. I would be honored if the citizens of Inyo County would elect me to another term of office to oversee a smooth transition of these high priority advances in technology.

During my tenure in public service, I have had the opportunity to serve in leadership positions for both the County Recorders Association of California (CRAC) and the California Association of Clerks and Elections
Officials (CACEO). As an active member of these associations I have testified before the California Legislature against bills that would be harmful for Inyo County citizens and in support of policies that would clean up our voting records. I have also worked with the California legislature to sponsored successful legislation that removed barriers to recording your documents. Prior to working for Inyo County, I was a title and escrow professional.

I was raised in the Owens Valley by a family that has owned and operated several businesses in Bishop over the past fifty years. From a young age I was taught a strong work ethic, the importance of family values and an appreciation for community involvement. I have volunteered for many local organizations including Rotary, the Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lone Pine Film Festival, Boyscouts Troop 82, the California Deer Association, the Independence Civic Club, the Owens Valley Committee, Friends of Manzanar, and prior to working in the Registrar of Voters office, as a poll worker on Election Day. My husband, Greg, also grew up in the Owens Valley and has coached Little League and AYSO. We are raising our two children in Bishop.

Elective representation is the very core of our American democratic system. Guarding the integrity of elections is more critical now than ever before. I am committed to protecting your vote, as I have for the past decade, by ensuring proper checks, balances, access and transparency when conducting elections.

I pledge to continue improving and expanding services in all areas of Clerk/Recorder’s office, while maintaining cost effective management policies to save as many of your tax dollars as possible.

I want to thank the citizens of Inyo County for giving me the opportunity to represent them as their Clerk/Recorder & Registrar of Voters and I humbly ask for your vote on June 5, 2018.
