On December 2 at 1:00pm the Mammoth Lakes Friends of the Library held the dedication ceremony for the Path to Literacy Reading Area and donor benches. A larger than anticipated crowd gathered in the blustery wind outside of the Mammoth Branch Library to see the benches.  After the ceremony a small reception was held inside of the library itself.

There were three benches dedicated, including one in memory of Doc and Ellie Randol.  The benches were masterfully created by local artist Brian Jones, who is best known for his metal work.  Additional work on the benches was completed by artists Todd Unangst and Jack Durnford.

More than 200 donors contributed to the project and their names were incorporated into the artwork. If you would like to sit on one of these benches and enjoy a good (or not so good) book just head on over to 400 Sierra Park Road in Mammoth Lakes, California. Take a stroll through the library parking lot towards Cerro Coso Community College and you can’t miss ‘em.
