Tuesday, at about 3:15 pm, emergency crews in Mammoth Lakes were called out to assist a bicyclist who was reported down and not breathing. At last word, Brune Mortuary was responding to Mammoth Hospital.

CPR was in progress before fire fighters arrived on scene on the Uptown bike trail near Highway 203 and the Scenic Loop Road. Mammoth Fire Chief Brent Harper reported that the man, who appeared to be in his 50s, was in full cardiac arrest when fire fighters arrived.

Whether the man collapsed from an accident, or a medical condition was unknown at last word. Chief Harper said that the man was riding uphill on his bike and there appeared to be little visible trauma. It was not immediately known if the deceased man were local or visiting the area.

Update- Mono Sheriff Officials report that the man was 65-year-old Michael Allen Greene of Topanaga California. The death is classified as natural.
