Sherwin Creek Rd. Parking Update

Mammoth Lakes Police Chief Randy Schienle reported to Town Council that the issues with parking on Sherwin Creek Road were slowLY being resolved. At the March 4 Council meeting local Ali Feinberg expressed her distress over being issued a parking citation for parking on the road while walking her dogs. Chief Schienle explained that it was mainly the employees at the Sherwins Meadow Ranch who were calling and complaining about the excess amount of cars on the road, claiming it was hindering their ability to get to work. In response, the Town had plowed the road further and was in the process of putting signs on the east side of the road that stated no parking, while the west side of the road would be available for parking between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Schienle could not directly connect the Sherwin Creek Road problem to the Forest Service cracking down further on the leash law at Shady Rest, he did state that in all the years he had been at the MLPD he could not remember any complaints coming from Sherwin Creek Road before this winter.

The request had been approved several months ago, but when the Town tried to put conditions on the money before handing it over, Bear With Us balked and refused to take it.
