mammoth_hospital_entranceThe Mono County Sheriffs Department continues to investigate the death of a Mammoth Resident who had suffered an injury while snowboarding.

According to Sheriffs Department officials, on Friday March 12, 27-year-old Joshua Hernandez was involved in what has been described as a high speed snowboard collision with a fence.

Reports indicate that the accident occurred near the bottom of Chair 4. After the accident, Hernandez, who worked for the Ski Area but was off duty at the time, returned to his residence on Joaquin Street. Later Friday evening after going home, Hernandez was transported to Mammoth Hospital with what is reported to be internal bleeding.

Mono Sheriff officials report that Hernandez went into cardiac arrest at the Hospital where life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
