At just after 4:00pm Friday afternoon a man walking across Main Street Bishop at Yaney, was hit by a vehicle. Bishop Police and the Symons Ambulance Crew were on scene within minutes and worked quickly to get the severely injured man onto a back board and into the ambulance.

The male victim was bleeding hard from his head when emergency workers got him into the ambulance and to Northern Inyo Hospital. Police say that he was later flown to Washoe Medical Center in Reno.

It appeared that the male victim was in the crosswalk when he was hit by a Blue SUV. This is the second serious accident in a crosswalk in Bishop this month.

Police Officers that we spoke to believed that the victim did live locally, and the Blue SUV did have local plates. At news time the driver of the Blue SUV had been arrested under suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
