pknt_carmenerSo, I am reviewing a wine from Chile called P.K.N.T. What does P.K.N.T. stand for? Nothing, really, it’s only an acronym. The wine itself is made from the carmenere grape and this is a 2008 Gold Reserve. Carmenere is called the lost Bordeaux grape in France because disease nearly wiped it out there. However it has survived and flourished in Chile. The P.K.N.T. vineyard is located in the Maule Valley which is in Central Chile near the town of Talca.
I had this wine with rack of lamb and it went quite well. The color was a nice dark red/purple. The nose exhibited an array of black fruits and spice. On the pallet it was medium bodied, very smooth and silky with earthy notes, black fruits and a real nice spicy background. At $9.00 a bottle, this wine is a great value and it tastes good too. You can get this wine at your local wine shop, Manor Market, or on the internet.
