Mammoth Police issued a word of serious caution for motorists. Deer are migrating and crossing Highways 395 and 203. Infact, vehicles colliding with deer caused two accidentsThursday.

Police said that a vehicle veered off 395 in the area of Mammoth-Yosemite Airport to avoid a deer but struck the animal, killing it and causing injuries to the occupants of the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were transported to Mammoth Hospital with injuries. Officers noted that both people were wearing seat belts which minimized injuries.

Police said that a Mono Sheriff’s officer, responding to this accident also struck a deer.
