CREATING PARTNERSHIP TO PROTECT MONO BASIN STREAMS

In August 2013, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), Mono Lake Committee, California Trout, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife entered into an agreement creating a historic partnership to protect the Mono Basin environment and the four major streams that flow into Mono Lake. The Agreement is the culmination of a 12-year study by a state-appointed scientific panel that addresses the concerns of Mono Lake stakeholders while also recognizing the concerns of LADWP’s water customers for reliable and affordable water.  WHAT: Commemorative event, site tour and symbolic tree-planting

Grant Lake Reservoir Dam
Media meet at 10:45 at the Mono Lake Visitor’s Center or Cain Ranch at corner of Hwy 395 and North June Lake Loop

12:30 p.m.—Tree planting and light lunch
Old Rush Creek Bridge, Highway 395
Parking available at Cain Ranch
