chpcarKerrie Hageman, 61, of Fernley, Nevada, was driving north on Highway 395 just north of Fish Springs Road Monday morning when she lost control of her car and later died from injuries at Northern Inyo Hospital.

According to the Highway Patrol, it was just after 7 in the morning Monday when Ms. Hageman allowed her 2004 Chevy Cavalier to drift off the west shoulder of the highway into the center divide. Officers said the woman over-corrected and lost control of her vehicle. This was south of Big Pine.

Hageman’s car crossed back over the highway and overturned onto the east shoulder. The car came to rest upside down next to the Big Pine Canal. Officers said the woman was wearing her seat belt. Big Pine Volunteer Fire Department extricated Hageman from the vehicle. She was transported to Northern Inyo Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The collision is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol in Bishop.
