chiefcartercameraA high-tech investigative tool went public at this week’s Bishop City Council meeting. Police Chief Chris Carter showed the City Council a small camera that fit in the palm of his hand.

Carter explained that the small, trick video camera would allow officers to document evidence outside of their patrol cars. He explained that the cameras digitally store both video and audio.

Bishop Police have not yet started to carry the cameras which cost around $800 each. Chief Carter said his department is gathering policies from around the state on the use of such police cameras so officers will have set guidelines when they start to use the cameras.
