As part of the annual reshuffle of the Bishop City Council, a new mayor was elected Monday night. After a year in the Mayor Pro Tem, or substitute mayor seat, Martin Smiley Connolly will take over as the Mayor of Bishop for a year. After the council members voted to confirm Connolly, his first official words as Mayor were to tell out- going Mayor Frank Crom to get out of my seat. The two then cordially switched chairs.
Council Member Susan Cullen is on deck for Mayor next year since she was voted in as the Mayor Pro Tem.
