Yvonne is an Earth Scientist specializing in Desert Soils and Water. She received her PhD in Aridland Soils and Water.

She came to Bishop 9 years ago to assume the position of Director, U.C. Cooperative Extension for Inyo and Mono Counties. Yvonne was happy to come back to Bishop, where she was born, and to enjoy the great outdoors with botanizing, birding, hiking, geo-exploring and photographing the beautiful landscapes. She is currently retired from the Department of Soil Sciences, Riverside. She is planning some projects working with several colleagues.

The Rotary Club is excited about Yvonne sharing her joy and knowledge of the natural world, writing skills and volunteering in our monthly soup kitchen program, and working with youth to develop their understanding and appreciation of natural sciences. Yvonne does indeed believe in “Service Above Self.” She joined Rotary because of the members who value others, and working to benefit communities throughout the world.

Janet Guglielmino, Ph.D. rejoined The Rotary Club of Bishop in January of this year. Her sponsor, Dr. Leo Pisculli is delighted to have her “back” in the club to contribute her many talents in giving service to the community. Janet is a Clinical Psychologist and has lived in Bishop since 1992.

She came to Bishop because of a job opportunity listed in the San Francisco “Chronicle with the hopes of enjoying the beautiful Eastern Sierra area and the convenience of having good skiing at Mammoth Mountain so close.

Janet has a son, David, now 21, and together they enjoy living in a small community where they both can pursue their love of nature and the many opportunities for winter sports, hiking and nature outings with friends. When asked for something interesting about her, Janet said she has many hobbies which include piano playing, tuning, and repair of pianos, woodturning and wood carving.

President Sue Lyndes is looking forward to having Janet participate in the club’s many local service projects plus bringing new ideas to enrich our present programs.
