Multiple fights were reported Saturday night in downtown Bishop and a Bakersfield man was arrested after a large melee that started at McMurry’s tavern and spilled onto Main St., Bishop (US Highway 395).
Calls came into the Bishop Police Department at 11:45 p.m. Sept. 1st with reports dozens of people engaged in fights inside and outside McMurry’s.
BPD officers patrolling downtown Bishop were quickly on scene, and additional units on duty at the Tri-County Fair were dispatched to the area, Bishop Police Public Information Officer Katie Coffman said.
Coffman said there were reports that anywhere from 20 to 80 people may have been involved in the disturbance, with locals and out-of-town residents involved.
Bishop police arrested Robbie Trevino, age 36, of Bakersfield, on a felony charge of battery causing great bodily injury. One victim was transported to Northern Inyo Hospital.
Five people were detained but not arrested for public intoxication Saturday night, with three of those attending the Tri-County Fair, Coffman said, part of a busy weekend at the so-called “drunk tank.”
Coffman said a bouncer at McMurry’s used pepper spray during the fighting.
When the police close down a bar and a bouncer starts spraying pepper , I’d be out on the street also.

Redneck is a derogatory slang term used in reference to poor, uneducated white farmers, especially from the southern United States. It is similar in meaning to cracker (especially regarding Georgia and Florida), hillbilly (especially regarding Appalachia and the Ozarks), and white trash (but without the last term’s suggestions of immorality).… Read more »
It doesn’t bother me one bit to be called a redneck. So I guess I agree with our last sentence. But I still don’t like Mule Days.
Neoconservatism is a variant of the political ideology of conservatism which combines features of traditional (paleo) conservatism, military interventionism, social conservatism, nationalism, and a qualified endorsement of free markets. Most who listen to Rush Limbaugh don’t think too much about what he is saying. That’s why they — as a collective — earned the nickname “dittoheads” back in the day when Limbaugh lorded it over both a radio and television empire. But those who do still think while the… Read more »

Good stuff, Jeremiah. 11 thumbs down on your thoughts, clearly indicates the amount of far-right types that have permeated (and trying their hardest) to control, this blog. Maybe someone should check the facts a little more before sending in the fire marshall. 20 to 80 is a pretty wide guess here. From what I heard there were more cops and fireman there than real people 🙂 May I suggest a bikini lounge in town.

great idea, but don’t tell “Big” that.
He and his alter ego trouble is/are paranoid about facts presented.
