Dave and Roma McCoy proved another time that they know how to inspire people. The famous pair drew a large crowd to honor them in a special tribute organized by the Warren Miller Freedom Foundation, the Mammoth Lakes Foundation and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.

The high-pitched evening started slowly with wine and hors d-oeuvres on the sun deck with live music by the Felici Trio. Many familiar locals, some old and some new, mingled in the beautiful setting.

The Mountainside Conference Center was transformed into an elegant party venue by the organizations involved. Lots of reminiscing followed. The Millers talked about their foundation to teach ethical principles of business to young people. Officials talked about the Mammoth Lakes Foundation missions of higher education.

Another famous local was there. Andrea Lawrence, who said that even though she and Dave Mccoy are on opposite ends of political issues, they both love the Eastern Sierra and are, in that way, environmentalists.

Mammoth Mountain CEO Rusty Gregory made it clear that Dave had been his teacher in a business that had treated him sell from lift operator to CEO.

And, a sneak preview of the documentary, 'Mammoth Dreams: The Story of Dave McCoy". Creator of the film, seven-time Emmy Award winner, Chris Pyle was there. The DVD of the unique film will be available at the Mammoth Ski Museum.

Warren Miller presented Dave and Roma McCoy with the Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. In his own style, Dave talked about his modest beginnings and how Mammoth has given many people the vocational training for highly successful lives.

Many members of the McCoy family joined Dave and Roma on stage for a very emotional and high-spirited moment.
