Burn piles at a home on Tu-Su spread of control Friday, leading to another call for the Bishop Volunteers Fire Fighters.

At about 11:30 Friday morning a large smoke column could be seen rising over the Bishop Area. Flames from burn piles in the back yard of a home on Tu-Su spread out of control as the breeze picked up. Bishop Fire Chief Ray Seguine says that he encourages people to keep piles small and stay on top of the burns with a garden hose, but in this case a garden hose was not enough.

The fire spread through grass and under the trees in the yard before the volunteers were able to get a handle on the fire. Fire fighters finished up and were able to clear the scene by 1:30 in the afternoon.
