curveClosure of US Highway 395 – High Point Curve Correction Project

Mono County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled night closures of US Highway 395 from Holbrook Junction to Bridgeport as part of a $17.2 million road realignment and retaining wall project.  The first road closure of US 395 will begin at 7:00 pm on May 3rd and end at 7:00 am on May 4th.  Road closures will continue for 14 nights.  The last road closure will begin at 7:00 pm on May 16th and end at 7:00 am on May 17th.  A signed detour between Holbrook Junction (US 395 and Nevada State Route 208) and Bridgeport (State Route 182) is available during the night closures.  State Route 89 over Monitor Pass will stay open for passenger vehicle traffic (weather permitting).

Closure Dates:  NIGHT ONLY CLOSURES From Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 7:00 pm to 7:00 am of the 4th  thru May 16th, 2012 at 7:00 pm to 7:00 am of the 17th.

After May 17, 2012, one way traffic control will be in effect until October.

For the safety of the construction crew and motorists, please be attentive to closures, slow for the cone zone, and move over one lane where possible.

About the Project

This project intends to improve mobility and safety along 1.8 miles of US 395 by realigning horizontal and vertical curves to increase speed and expanding the shoulder width from 2 to 8 feet.   The location of the project is adjacent to Topaz Lake, between the highway’s junction with State Route 89 and the California-Nevada border, post mile 117.8 to 119.6.  This $17.2 million project, which will be completed in October 2012, will provide a safer travel experience for motorists. The contractor is Disney Construction, Inc of Burlingame, CA.
